Hitch & Hike

Problem

For people that live in the city and don’t own a car, getting away to hike for the day or enjoy a weekend of camping in some of the great outdoors this region has to offer can be almost impossible, and if you don’t have any of your own equipment it’s even more difficult.

Solution

Hitch & Hike is an app that allows you to jump in the driver’s seat of your next outdoor adventure. We make it easy for you to get on the road and feel comfortable knowing that you have all of the equipment that you need and the means to get there, no matter what path your trip takes you down. We know how it feels to have those sneaky fees add up when you go to pay for your rental; why can’t the price that we were told be the price that we pay? Well, now it can be! With our fleet of fully electric and adventure-ready vehicles, you no longer need to worry about that hidden fuel expense upon return. Or how about that extra cost of adding insurance to your rental? We’ve thought of that too! Through our partnership with Metromile, your renter's insurance is included in the cost of the rental. The only thing you need to worry about is where you’re going to go next!

Research & Demographics

The target audience for Hitch & Hike is the busy professional looking for a way to escape the city and get out and enjoy the great outdoors. Our research has shown that some of the biggest pain points when renting a car come from the lack of transparency and introduces a stigma that suggests you'll end up paying more for a vehicle than what is actually included in the car you're renting rather than what is available in some models only. How might we create a better system for renting all while introducing people to new hiking opportunities? We want to give the customer a sense of relief that their whole trip is “their own.”
